Today I’ve been to Augsburg and attended a guided tour to work places of the Fugger family. The most famous member of this family was the Renaissance merchant, the mining industry businessman and banker Jakob Fugger who - in 1521 - donated the oldest social settlement in the world (“Fuggerei“). Jakob’s successor was his nephew Anton Fugger, son of his elder brother Georg.
Kazuma Obara (28) is a Japanese photographer documenting the working conditions in the damaged atomic power plant in Fukushima. He was born in Iwate, one of the regions hit hard by the earthquake and tsunami in March 2011. At that time Kazuma studied photography and worked at Mitsubishi. 3 days after the disaster he left his job and became a full-time photographer. With his pictures Kazuma criticizes the Japanes media coverage of the disaster. His pictures were published worldwide - except for Japan.

This Surreal Lake Full of Frozen Bubbles Is Actually in Planet EarthIt’s hard to believe that such an alien sight exists on our Pale Blue Dot. Photographed by Emmanuel Coupe, this photo shows frozen gas bubbles in a Canadian lake. In his own words:
This image was taken in winter time in a arid area of the Canadian Rockies. Temperatures where below -30 degrees Celsius yet because there was no snow fall the surface of the lake was uncovered allowing me to see and capture the bubbles (gas release from lake bed) that were trapped in the frozen waters.
This beautiful photograph demonstrates once again that, while there must be a million planets like ours out there, Earth must be one of the most amazing places in the Universe.
